1 Year Anniversary!

It's been a year since I married my best friend! For our anniversary (to keep things on the cheap side since we just bought a house), we went to Tennessee to visit my family. But first we got to spend our anniversary in my dad's log cabin, just the two of us. I spent probably a week out of every summer growing up (and weekends during the rest of the year) at the cabin. However, sadly, last year it burned down. So this was the first time seeing the "new" cabin. It was definitely very cozy and made you feel at home. It was a very relaxing anniversary. We woke up, listened to the birds on the back porch while rocking in the rocking chairs, ate a small breakfast, watched tv (he has satellite there! something new from the old cabin), napped, played checkers, went to the marina restaurant for lunch, watched ducks beg people for food, went back to the cabin, painted a picture, walked through the woods, and played more games. It was probably the most relaxing day we've had in a looooonnng time. And we saw two deer!

It was so relaxing to wake up in the mornings and go out on the back porch and watch the squirrels and birds and hope that a deer or two would come out of the woods.

Here is a neat picture of a tree hugging another tree. We saw it on our adventure into the woods. Every branch of the smaller tree went around the bigger tree. Awwww.

Here are the two deer that came out while Ben was painting. They were wagging their tails like little puppies.

These blue skies were seen as we were driving into the Tennessee mountains. No photo editing here, except to add the comment in the bottom right corner. I think the skies looked like that because it had been raining a lot of the day and at that moment the sun came out for a bit.

Mummies! and Housework!

So, I haven't written in a while (or "writ" according to Larry the Cable Guy...off subject but I just watched "Them Idiots! Whirled Tour" with Bill Engvall, Jeff Foxworthy, and Larry the Cable Guy. It was on netflix and they sometimes have a clean humor, and it was pretty funny! At one point Larry referred to something being writ and Bill had to translate that he meant wrote. Anywho if you like southern humor, I'd recommend this one.) haha off that tangent now...

Yep so we got a house and have been living here about a month now. Still boxes everywhere and messy in general. We haven't really had any time off to be unpacking a lot. Every weekend we're off, we're either too tired from working all week and need a day of rest, or we have plans for other things than unpacking. One day we tested our sprinkler heads and Ben went out and bought some new ones for the ones that didn't work. And then he became a Master of Sprinkler Head Changing. Our neighbors were ready to employ him. Since neither of us have ever had a sprinkler system, it was interesting to see how it all works and how to replace broken heads.

One day we met Ben's brother and his wife at a local museum and saw a mummies exhibit. Interesting but a little weird to be looking at dead people and animals. I mean the culture and the process was all very interesting. It's just a different experience.

So this weekend, I ended up with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off from work, so I'm trying to unpack a lot more boxes and get things more organized. Today, I successfully moved a rolltop desk, two small filing cabinets, and put together a twin bed, all by myself (lucky it's not carpet or it wouldn't have been so easy)! So it actually looks like we have 2 spare bedrooms, and I only say "looks like" because I'm not sure they will be used as bedrooms anytime in the near future.

Umm...not sure what else I can talk about right now so I'll leave it at that and share a picture our realtor took on the day of our first scheduled closing. The sun was kind of in our eyes. And honestly, I don't remember if I've posted this picture before or not, so here's for possibly seeing it twice...
